UBS Financial Services Inc. Father/Son Team Makes Forbes 2019 Best-in-State List

Forbes names UBS Financial Services Inc. father/son team, Tim and Blair Cornell, to its 2019 Best-in-State Wealth Advisors list. The Cornells are advisors on the sixteen-member Cornell/Nicholson Team based in Dayton, Ohio and currently manage $1.3 billion in client assets.

Tim has been in business since 1973 and joined UBS when it acquired Paine Webber in 2000. His son, Blair, began working with him in 2004. Tim knew when Blair was just 8-years-old he would someday be his business partner.

"I think most parents would love to have a child work with them and, if possible, take over their business," said Tim. "Blair and I work together every day and usually even have lunch together. I love spending that much time with my son. On a professional note, Blair excels at what he does. I am relieved knowing Blair will serve my clients, who are my friends, very well when I retire."

Blair started interning for Tim in middle school and learned the importance of saving at a young age. He's also done every job including filing, data entry, cold calling and meeting with clients. Once Blair officially decided he wanted to be a financial advisor, he knew work would not feel like work if he got to spend each day learning from his best friend and mentor.

"I've witnessed firsthand how my dad lives his life with the utmost integrity and how he treats his clients with a great deal of respect," said Blair. "Decades before it was an industry best practice, I watched as my dad honed the skill of offering clients a holistic approach to financial planning, rather than simply focusing on investing. This experience gives me a big advantage and head start over someone starting completely on their own."

The Forbes ranking of Best-In-State Wealth Advisors, developed by SHOOK Research, is based on an algorithm of qualitative criteria, mostly gained through telephone and in-person due diligence interviews, and quantitative data. Those advisors that are considered have a minimum of seven years' experience, and the algorithm weighs factors like revenue trends, assets under management, compliance records, industry experience and those that encompass best practices in their practices and approach to working with clients.
