Blue Star Software Promotes Austin Norby to Director of Cyber Initiatives

FALLS CHURCH, Va., March 13, 2019 /PRNewswire/ -- Blue Star Software, providers of software engineering services to the United States Intelligence Community, announced that Austin Norby will be taking on the role of Director of Cyber Initiatives. Norby's prior position at Blue Star was computer scientist, a role he also held at the U.S. Department of Defense for four years.

As Director of Cyber Initiatives, Norby will be responsible for all aspects of the company's cyber efforts, including launching a new commercial cybersecurity consulting service that leverages the talents of the former National Security Agency (NSA) security experts at Blue Star, a team that is highly credentialed by the information security industry's most trusted sources, including (ISC)², the International Council of Electronic Commerce Consultants (EC-Council), and the SANS Institute.  Blue Star's commercial cybersecurity services will include comprehensive penetration tests of enterprise networks, source code analysis of critical applications, and reverse engineering, among others.

"Austin distingished himself by excelling in his software engineering work, and also in areas of corporate development," stated Dan Sherwell, president of Blue Star. "He revamped our interview process for cybersecurity engineers to help us better identify the most promising candidates, spearheaded a series of cybersecurity Tech Talks, and has done considerable outreach in the tech community to attract qualified candidates.  Austin's a great embodiment of the culture we have built here, an excellent ambassador for us, and I look forward to having him drive our new cybersecurity services offering."

"I'm grateful for the opportunity Blue Star has given me – it is everything I hoped for when I joined the company," said Norby. "Our new information security services offering for the private sector has the potential to more than double the size of the business. I am excited about introducing this service and growing the business to the next level."
