California DWC Offers Statewide Access of ReedGroup's Evidence-Based Guidelines to Providers Who Care For Injured Workers

ReedGroup®, a leading publisher of evidence-based medical treatment guidelines and formularies, announced that its practice guidelines from the American College of Occupational and Environmental Medicine (ACOEM) are now available complimentary to providers who handle California workers' compensation cases.

California's Department of Industrial Relations, Division of Workers' Compensation, secured a state-wide license of ReedGroup's ACOEM guidelines which are incorporated into the State's Medical Treatment Utilization Schedule (MTUS). The MTUS is the primary source of guidance for physicians treating workers' compensation patients, helping to ensure patient care is safe, effective and medically-sound. The recommendations found in MTUS provide a pathway for the most effective diagnostic interventions and treatment for work-related conditions.

As part of the agreement, ReedGroup developed a custom version of its industry-leading MDGuidelines website, MDGuidelines: CA (News - Alert) MTUS-ACOEM Edition, that allows providers in California easy access to the latest evidence-based medical and drug guidance.

"ReedGroup is pleased to offer our ACOEM content and tools to providers who treat California workers' compensation cases," said Joe Guerriero, Senior Vice President of MDGuidelines® at ReedGroup. "California is revolutionizing the use of evidence-based medicine by making these guidelines fully accessible at no cost to providers across the state. This directly benefits California's population of injured workers who will have access to higher quality care that is backed by scientific rigor."

The MDGuidelines: CA MTUS-ACOEM Edition website provides a full set of benefits to providers who care for injured workers:

  1. Improves Health Outcomes by empowering providers with easily accessible content and tools that support evidence-based medical treatment.
  2. Ensures Safety and Compliance by enabling physician adherence to MTUS and ACOEM guidelines that are scientifically-based.
  3. Improves Patient Satisfaction by allowing providers to share diagnosis and treatment information with patients, helping patients take a more active role in their return to health.
  4. Controls Costs by encouraging provision of high quality care tha improves recovery and return to work, thereby reducing treatment disputes that cause administrative costs within the workers' compensation system.

Providers treating California workers' compensation patients can register for free access to the MDGuidelines: CA MTUS-ACOEM Edition website at www.mdguidelines.com/MTUS.
