AllGo and Molex Collaborate to Enable Infotainment for Emerging Automotive Ethernet Networks

AllGo, a leading Automotive software provider for Media, Connectivity, Driver Monitoring, and Molex (News - Alert), a leading global manufacturer of connected mobility solutions, have teamed up on development of an Infotainment Head unit solution to remotely access devices connected to a Media Hub through an Ethernet Gateway (News - Alert).

With ethernet emerging as the network of choice and in-car connectivity architectures evolving to a zone-based architecture, there is a need for accessing peripherals connected to a zonal gateway remotely over ethernet.

"As automotive OEMs work to develop cars of the future, our collaboration with AllGo helps deliver the versatile infotainment drivers and passengers want, including sophisticated graphic displays and USB connectivity with streaming content," said Dave Atkinson, director of business development for connected mobility solutions, Molex. "With high throughput and low latency, the customizable and scalable Molex OTG Hubs and Media Modules deliver best-in-class hardware and software for autonomous vehicles."

"We are pleased to offer solutions that solve the media content access challenges arising out of distributed high speed in-vehicle connectivity," said K. Srinivasan, CEO of AllGo. "Our work with Molex for the development of media access solutions over high speed Ethernet networks enables us to solve media connectivity challenges of connected and autonomous vehicles."

The demonstration setup consists of a High-speed Molex Ethernet Gateway to which a Media Hub, enabled with AllGo OTGHub Technology, is connected. The Media Hub has USB ports and is Wireless enabled, to support Wired and Wireless CarPlay and Android (News - Alert) Auto technologies. A Head unit running Android is connected to the Gateway over Ethernet.

The demostration showcases high throughput and low latency demanding CarPlay and Android auto working remotely, using AllGo's USB over Ethernet technology. An iPhone (News - Alert) or Android phone connected to the Media Hub over USB or Wi-Fi shall be remotely accessed by the Head unit to do CarPlay or Android auto, without compromising on the throughput and latency requirements.

This technology will be demonstrated at CES (News - Alert) 2019 from January 8 - 11, 2019 at AllGo Westgate Hospitality Suite #473, Tech East. Write to [email protected] to know more about AllGo demonstrations at CES2019. For additional information, please visit: www.allgosystems.com

The Molex Automotive Ethernet Network Platform is an Ethernet-based vehicle connectivity system with multi-zone integration across hardware, software and interconnect cabling systems, with the flexibility to incorporate legacy automotive protocols and scalability for future upgrades. It delivers a complete computing solution designed to meet the requirements of a high-performing autonomous vehicle and showcases the computing power of the Molex gateway solutions for in-vehicle networking. The future-ready, automotive-grade gateways act as central hubs, providing secure and reliable interconnects and processing data across the vehicle network to functional domains such as ADAS.
