Capella University's Educator Preparation Program Receives Accreditation by Council for the Accreditation of Educator Preparation

Capella University's (News - Alert) Educator Preparation Provider (EPP) unit has been granted accreditation by the Council for the Accreditation of Educator Preparation (CAEP) through 2024. Created by the consolidation of the National Council for Accreditation of Teacher Education and the Teacher Education Accreditation Council, CAEP is the single specialized accreditor for educator preparation in the United States.

"Earning this accreditation is a seal of approval that ensures quality in preparing leaders within education. Our learners and faculty should be very proud of the work they are doing. We've set a very high bar for our advanced-level education preparation provider unit, and CAEP Accreditation validates the hard work we are doing," said Dr. Dick Senese, President of Capella University. "Our learners are investing in their future and can be assured that our programs have been recognized for their quality and professional relevance."

For an institution or specialized program to become CAEP accredited, it must demonstrate it meets standards set by organizations representing the academic community, professionals, and other stakeholders. CAEP accreditation enures that there is solid evidence that Capella University's graduates are competent and caring, and that Capella University's EPP staff have created a culture of continuous improvement.

Capella University is one of 52 providers to earn CAEP accreditation during its fall 2018 review. "These institutions meet high standards so that their students receive an education that prepares them to succeed in a diverse range of classrooms after they graduate," said CAEP President Dr. Christopher A. Koch. "Seeking CAEP Accreditation is a significant commitment on the part of an educator preparation provider."

Capella University's EPP includes the Master of Science in Education with specializations in Early Childhood Education, Leadership in Educational Administration, and Reading and Literacy; Master of Science in School Counseling; Education Specialist with specialization in Leadership in Educational Administration; PhD in Education with specializations in Leadership in Educational Administration and Special Education Leadership; and Doctor of Psychology in School Psychology.
