Virginia State Approving Agency (SAA) Approves Security University's Registered Qualified/ Cybersecurity Apprenticeship Program for Veterans' Education Benefits


HERNDON, Va., Nov. 5, 2018 /PRNewswire/ -- The Virginia State Approving Agency October 23, 2018 approved Security University's (SU) 2 Registered Qualified/ Cybersecurity Apprenticeship Programs Level I & II (Q/Cybersecurity RAP) to the Virginia GI Bill approved list. Just in time for the 2018 Department of Labor National Apprenticeship Month and in advance of next week's National Apprentice Week November 12-18, as long as they are employed, military, veteran or family member eligible for GI Bill education benefits can participate in SU's Q/Cybersecurity RAP Programs.

SU's Q/Cyber RAP 24 month, 288 hours hands-on cybersecurity training program, 4,000 of OJT employment offers phased-cyber educational development pathway courses that align veterans with the needs of employers to address current and emerging cyber threats with validated cyber skills.

SU's instructor led courses are held in Herndon VA, with industry leading subject matter experts, accredited by Middle States Association (MSA-CESS) and SCHEV Certified to Operate since 2006. The Q/Cybersecurity RAP programs includes eight 5-day cybersecurity classes, live labs (not simulated), mentoring, and earn industry recognized cybersecurity certifications and 2 Certificate Programs of Mastery Q/ISP (Qualified/ Information Security Professional) or Q/IAP (Qualified/ Information Assurance Professional) pathways. SU courses are NSA- CNSS (National Security Agency) CNSS 4011, 4012, 4013, 4015, 4106, NIST, (National Institute of Standards) and NICE (National Initiative for Cyber Education) approved since 2008.

After becoming the first Managed Adult Cybersecurity RAP in Virginia April 2018, SU is an Intermediary Sponsor assisting military, veterans and family members during apprenticeship gathering required OJT, wage data and reports to reduce employer resource burden and manages the entire apprenticeship process streamlining employer approvals and employee trainings. Eligibl GI Bill individuals can retroactively enroll and use previously earned cybersecurity certifications.

During these eight 5 day classes over 24 months, apprentices earn while they learn (regular salaries), and return to their employer "cyber skilled and ready to work". A SU managed cyber apprenticeship is an employer agreement to upskill and train employees in 8 cyber training classes over 24 months. Q/Cybersecurity RAP Level I certification training includes: Security+, CISSP, CASP, Linux+, Cloud+, Q/EH Qualified/ Ethical Hacking, Q/SA Qualified/ Security Analyst and Q/PTL Qualified/ Penetration Tester License. Level II adds; Q/FE Qualified/ Forensic Expert, Q/ND Qualified/ Network Defense, ISO 27001 ISMS Lead Implementer, Q/AAP Authentication Access & PKI, Q/CA Authentication, Accreditation and RMF ( Risk Management Framework).
