World Innovation Summit for Health (WISH) 2018

Final applications are being accepted to attend the 4th edition of the World Innovation Summit for Health taking place in Doha, Qatar, on 13-14 November 2018.

An initiative of Qatar Foundation for Education, Science and Community Development (QF), WISH attracts some of the world's leading healthcare experts and policy makers, and charges them with working together to tackle some of the largest global healthcare challenges.

The theme for WISH 2018 is 'One Community, One Goal: A Healthier World through Global Collaboration', reflecting the fact that diseases and healthcare issues know no borders. As in previous years, this year's summit is expected to receive around 2000 healthcare experts, innovators, entrepreneurs, policymkers, and ministers from over 100 countries.



"WISH 2018 is going to be very exciting, translating amazing outputs into impacting change at a local level in a way that truly affects mankind," said Professor the Lord Darzi of Denham, Executive Chair of WISH.

The summit will welcome former Irish President Mary Robinson, former British Foreign Minister David Miliband, and 23-time Olympic swimming gold medalist Michael Phelps as keynote speakers.


Other notable participants include Dr. Matshidiso Moeti, World Health Organization (WHO) Regional Director for Africa; Dr. Victor Dzau, President of the US National Academy of Medicine; Maurizio Vecchione, Executive Vice President, Global Good & Research; and Dr. Neil Leibowitz, Chief Medical Officer at TalkSpace online therapy.

Nine panel discussions, based on evidence-based research, will highlight and address some of the world's most pressing healthcare challenges. The main themes are Anxiety and Depression; Data Science and Artificial Intelligence (AI); Design in Health; Healthcare in Conflict Zones; Eye Health; Palliative Care and Islamic Ethics; Nursing and Universal Health Coverage; The Role of the Private Sector in Healthcare; and Viral Hepatitis.

The WISH Innovation Hub, an enhanced interactive exhibition space, will showcase some of the world's most exciting healthcare innovations. It will also host informal discussions, provide hands-on experience of technologies, and offer a variety of networking opportunities. The Innovation Hub will also feature a number of pioneering organizations from around the world including Save The Children, The Carter Center, Orbis Flying Eye Hospital, and the Bill Gates-funded Global Good initiative.
