Alfresco Rated in Gartner's 2018 Critical Capabilities for Content Services Platforms

Alfresco Software, a leading enterprise open source provider of content management, process automation, and information governance software, today announced that Alfresco was recognized in the 2018 Gartner Critical Capabilities for Content Services Platforms report. Alfresco was evaluated across 15 capabilities and five critical use cases.

Alfresco was also recently positioned as a Challenger in Gartner's 2018 Magic Quadrant for Content Services Platforms. An essential companion piece to Magic Quadrant research, the Critical Capabilities report provides IT organizations and technology buyers with key decision-making insights about ways that a vendor's products address common use cases.

Alfresco Differentiation

Whereas the CSP (News - Alert) market is relatively mature, core functionality has become relatively homogenous when comparing products. However, there are areas of differentiation between vendors that remain which make certain platforms more suitable for specific use cases over others. The best fit for any given organization occurs when IT buyers pair report findings with other important selection criteria to help them win in digital transformation, such as these found in Alfresco's offering:

  • An open, developer-friendly set of APIs and modular UX components based upon Angular and Material Design that allow developers to rapidly extend the initial UX to craft fit-for-purpose end user experiences
  • A modern, containerized, cloud native architecture that helps enterprises to rapidly deploy and enables Continuous Integration and Continuous Delivery (CI/CD)

"Alfresco is a strategic fit for IT organizations that build their own content services applications and desire the full control to do so," observed John Newton, chief technology officer at Alfresco. "Our most innovative customers rely on Alfresco technologies to create differentiation in their own vertical markets, and we believe that this coverage from Gartner (News - Alert) affirms that Alfresco is a powerful platform for companies that not only need leading-edge content management but for those that are driving digital transformation."

The Alfresco Digital Business Platform is a single, open platform that provides an integrated suite of cntainerized, auto-scaled microservices for process, content and records management which can be deployed on premises or in the cloud. It comprises the flagship Alfresco Content Services, Alfresco Process Services, and Alfresco Governance Services, along with a number of modules and connectors and an Application Development Framework (ADF). Customers rely on Alfresco's modern platform to digitize critical business processes and connect people with the information they need, quickly and effortlessly. Alfresco is a particularly good fit for companies which value the flexibility of open source technologies and those which are investing in Amazon Web Services (News - Alert) (AWS) and CI/CD methodologies to deliver differentiated business outcomes.
