BetterUp Expands Coaching Platform To Drive Human Potential, Productivity and Performance

BetterUp, the company that pioneered mobile coaching to help all workers live their lives with optimal clarity, purpose and passion, announced today at its annual SHIFT Conference that it is launching three new products to better help workers flourish at work, home and everywhere in between.

BetterUp's core one-to-one coaching platform, which is rapidly growing in use among Fortune 500 customers and others, leverages the latest advances in behavioral science, technology and research to improve worker wellbeing, thus workplace performance and company profits. BetterUp has committed to the unique stance of helping people first as humans, and then as workers.

BetterUp's new products make coaching more accessible to more people and address more issues, including life-impacting ones such as sleep and nutrition that inevitably affect workplace performance. With these new products, BetterUp becomes the first one-stop-shop for coaching needs for workers throughout the enterprise. The new products, available at the beginning of next year to BetterUp customers, are:

  • Extended Network - Extends the coaching bench to a robust, rounded entourage of specialists ready to address issues such as sleep, nutrition, effective communication, peak performance, sales success -- all of which contribute to optimal living and performance. Lack of sleep alone costs the U.S. up to $411 billion in lost productivity a year, research shows. Four of ten people rank public speaking fear as one of their apex three fears. BetterUp's Extended Network underscores the company's commitment to the whole person, encompassing a holistic and aspirational vision for human thriving in every domain of life.
  • On-demand Coaching - Coaching available within one hour, 24/7, to deliver in-the-moment-support for whatever workers need, be it help prepping for a big speech or a difficult and important conversation. This coaching-as-a-service offering recognizes the rapid pace of today's workplace and the need for just-in-time assistance. It also enables BetterUp clients to extend coaching to more employees.
  • BetterUp 360 - A high-impact awareness building tool leveraging self-assessment and peer evaluation that allows the employee and coach to identify areas of opportunity and a plan of action for increased development.

With these new products, BetterUp continues to raise the bar on how personalized coaching can transform individual lives and organizations. BetterUp pioneered mobile coaching at scale in the enterprise, based on science and evidence-based tools, and now leads the industry's evolution with first-of-a-kind new products.

"At BetterUp, we're on a mission, not just to transform entire organizations, but to transform people first and foremost. Today's innovative companies know they must invest in the wellbeing of their biggest asset, their people, and unlock their full potential for optimal performance," says Alexi Robichaux, BetterUp CEO and Co-Founder. "BetterUp focuses on the whole person because that's what matters, and we will continue to lead the industry with innovations that do just that."

BetterUp Innovations Lead Coaching Industry

From its founding in 2013, BetterUp has been on a mission to disrupt the largely ineffective $130 billion learning and development industry that's stuck in a one-size-fits-all mentality while the workplace changes at unprecedented speed. To truly boost human flourishing requires much more than classroom training and even workplace-oriented coaching. It takes a full embrace of all aspects of what helps people be their best selves, and what limits them from doing so. The new BetterUp products enhance BetterUp's ability to deliver on that bigger vision.

The new products also mark the growth and increasing maturity of a market pioneer that's foraging the path to behavioral change and personalized development at scale in the enterprise. By understanding the inner lives of workers, BetterUp can better inform coaching interventions that help workers flourish as people and professionals. BetterUp uses a unique evidence-based approach based on research conducted in partnership with some of the world's most foremost psychologists and researchers. In August, BetterUp created the first-of-its-kind behavioral research lab, BetterUp Labs, to bring together business, academia and science to crack the code on what drives workers to bring their best and whole selves to work. BetterUp will spend $15 million to $20 million over five years on cutting edge research.

Adam Grant, recognized as one of the world's 10 most influential thinkers and a leading organizational psychologist, and Professor Martin E.P. Seligman, the founder of positive psychology, recently joined BetterUp's Science Board to help direct research. They are both giving keynotes at SHIFT.
