Google Wows with Pixel 3, Home Hub, and Pixel Slate; More Info at B&H

Google also unveiled its best-of-both-worlds mobile workhorse, the Pixel Slate. More than just a tablet or laptop, the Slate is a multi-purpose mobile platform seemingly designed for any use case, whether it's working on the go, entertainment purposes, or for any number of artistic endeavors. Starting with the Pixel 3: Google's newest smartphone is available in standard and XL versions. Both iterations feature a larger screen than their predecessors. For the standard, that means a 5.5-inch display, while on the XL, you get a significantly larger 6.3-inch screen. Apart from size, both displays are the same in terms of design and interface: a full-screen, flexible OLED that offers an edge-to-edge experience. The Pixel 3 also packs plenty of other flagship-worthy specs-the latest Android (News - Alert) OS, a Snapdragon 845 CPU, wireless charging support, etc.-but the biggest highlight is the upgrade to what was already considered one of the best smartphone cameras on the market. This improved setup includes a rear 12.2MP dual-pixel lens and two front-facing shooters that are supported by a bevy of new software and features, including new modes such as Top Shot, Super Res Zoom, and Night Sight. Images from the camera are just now hitting the Web, but if what's been shown is a true indicator of the camera's potential, then look for the Pixel to rank among the world's best smartphone cameras once again.

Google also unveiled an all-new mobile workhorse, the Pixel Slate. Part tablet, part laptop, the Slate is a multi-purpose mobile platform seemingly designed for any use case, whether it's working on the go, entertainment purposes, or for any number of artistic endeavors. Users can customize the Slate with different processor, RAM, and storage options, but all models will feature the same lightweight design, ultra-sharp 12.3" Molecular Display, as well as several other additional highlights, including an 8MP front-facing camera, dual front-firing speakers, and full integration with the Google suite of applications. The Pixel Slate also supports a number of accessories, such as the Pixel Slate Keyboard and Pixelbook Pen.

The other big highlight from Google's event was the unveiling of the Home Hub, a smart assistant with a 7-inch display, full-range speaker, and plenty of wireless connectivity options. The Home Hub leverages much of the same technology that has made Google's other smart devices-the Google Home and Home Mini, for example-so popular. The Home Hub appears to be more than a digital assistant, however. As the name implies, Google intends it to a central control unit for all the connected devices in your home. With the Hub, you can control utilities, play music on command, and get answers to all your pressing questions.
