Public sector leaders look to improve citizen engagement at Canberra summit

SYDNEY, Oct. 8, 2018 /PRNewswire/ -- Government technology projects have been much publicised in Australia over the last few years, with the My Health and 2016 Census amongst the most widely reported. However a large number of digital innovation success stories exist and will be shared with senior digital leaders at a Canberra Summit next week.

The GovInnovate Summit is to be held on the 9-10 October at the National Convention Centre, Canberra. Hannover Fairs Australia, the organisers of CEBIT Australia, are hosting the Summit.

Program Manager, Edyta Bednorz, explains the rationale behind GovInnovate.

"GovInnovate showcases the most successful case studies and speakers from across the public sector and we have made the summit accessible only to public sector employees. We find that this increases communication and openness betwen attendees."

"Our roundtable sessions also allow delegates to really discuss their transformation issues with experts in their field, people such as Dr Ian Oppermann, the Chief Data Scientist and CEO of the NSW Data Analytics Centre for example."

The Summit will feature over fifty presenters from a range of agencies, who will be sharing their thoughts and experiences on the digital transformation projects that they have participated in. Keynote plenaries will be followed by streamed sessions covering digital transformation; data analytics and privacy; artificial intelligence; service delivery & UX; digital innovation & smart cities; and platforms & cyber risk.

Day one keynote speakers include Adrian Turner, CEO of Data61; Genevieve Bell, Distinguished Professor; Director, 3A Institute; Senior Fellow, Intel, Australian National University, whilst day two's plenary kicks-off with presentations from Anthony Murfett, Deputy Head, Australian Space Agency; and Jerome Reid, Group Captain, Director Plan Jericho, Royal Australian Air Force.

Delegates will also get the opportunity to participate in roundtable sessions, offering them the chance to discuss specific issues in the digital arena with industry experts.
