CentralSquare Technologies Hosts Hour of Code for Local Students

CentralSquare Technologies, an industry leader in public sector software, hosted local students for Hour of Code, a global movement that reaches millions of students around the world through a one-hour education session designed to teach computer programming skills and promote access to computer science education. Bringing this global movement to Lake Mary, CentralSquare recently welcomed 24 middle-school students from Seminole County Public Schools to its Florida headquarters.

Students spent an hour honing their coding and computational skills using an age-specific exercise that teaches the basics of Python, an easy-to-learn open source programming language. Offered through the Code.org Hour of Code tutorial library, the exercise helped demystify the fundamentals of coding, while preparing students for their future entry into the digital, innovation-driven economy.

"As a market leader that develops innovative solutions for the public sector, both technology and public service are close to our hearts," said CentralSquare CEO Simon Angove. "We're thrilled to partner with our ocal school district and Code.org to ensure that every young person today has the benefit of gaining essential coding skills. Events such as these have the ability to ignite creativity and a lifelong passion for problem solving. We are proud partners in this effort."

CentralSquare plans to host future Hour of Code sessions on a monthly basis to reach additional school districts in Central Florida and at the company's Center of Excellence in Greensboro, NC.
