LUND, Sweden, Sept. 13, 2018 /PRNewswire/ -- The Swedish subsidiary of the globally active testing service provider, TUV Rheinland Sweden AB, officially opened its wireless laboratory in Lund. Numerous customers were invited to the Grand Opening Event on 31 August. In addition to an insight into the wireless laboratory and its equipment, with which the entire wireless requirements of all industries can be covered comprehensively, the guests could expect an extensive seminar program on various specialist topics. The events were hosted by experts from TUV Rheinland and renowned experts from the industry.

Full range of wireless testing options 

In 2017, TUV Rheinland acquired the wireless laboratory and thus expanded its worldwide wireless network. In addition to Sweden, TUV Rheinland has wireless laboratories in Germany, Italy, Japan, South Korea, Mainland China, Hong Kong, Taiwan, India, the USA and the Netherlands. At the beginning of 2018 Lund was audited and accredited as a certification institution by the Swedish Board for Accreditation and Conformity Assessment (SWEDAC). Since then, the company has been allowed to carry out full compliance testing as an independent testing organization.

Located at the eart of a technology cluster of research and development companies, manufacturers and integrators, the laboratory is the first of the European TUV Rheinland Wireless Laboratories to specialize in IoT products. "On a total of 900 square meters, spread over six individual laboratories, customers will find the entire spectrum of wireless testing options such as Sigfox, LoRa, NB-IoT, ZigBee, 3GPP (2G/3G/LTE), Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, mmW (RADAR) up to current 110 GHz and eCall. In addition, the laboratory is equipped with OTA respectively FAR chambers and SAR systems and covers both short range and long range radio technologies," says Anders Nordlof, Managing Director of TUV Rheinland Sweden AB.

Just in time for the official opening, the new SAC 5 chamber - for testing electromagnetic compatibility (EMC) and radio frequency (RF) in the wireless range went into operation. "This enables us in accordance with current and future standards to carry out EMC compliance testing services and radio frequency tests in the wireless range in accordance with the applicable requirements in Europe, the USA, Canada, Japan and Australia and thus support manufacturers in accessing these markets," says TUV Rheinland expert Nordlof.
