Engility and Center for Cyber Safety and Education announce summer 2018 CyberWarrior™ Scholarship recipients

CHANTILLY, Va., Aug. 21, 2018 /PRNewswire/ -- Engility Holdings, Inc. (NYSE: EGL), in partnership with the Center for Cyber Safety and Education, has awarded cybersecurity scholarships to four deserving veterans.

"We are honored to welcome a new generation of cybersecurity professionals who will help our nation meet the challenges of the future," said Lynn Dugle, Engility Chairman, President and CEO. "By selecting veterans as scholarship recipients, we tap the passion, experience and desire to serve our country embodied by our men and women in uniform, and we equip them for a career in a critical-need, high-demand field."

To help meet the national need for qualified cybersecurity professionals, the scholarship program provides military veterans with career development opportunities, training and certifications in cybersecurity.

The CyberWarrior summer 2018 class includes:

  •  Jonathan J. Cervantes, an Army veteran from Colorado Springs, Colorado
  •  Clint J. Lovell, an Army veteran living in Kaiserslautern, Germany
  •  Maria M. Mena, an Air Force veteran from Nashua, New Hampshire
  •  Davide Giovanni Zampieri, a Navy veteran from Baltimore, Maryland

The scholarship recipients will be honored at a presentation ceremony at the TechNet Augusta conference on Tuesday, August 21.

"With national security concerns at an all-time high, we need to equip these worthy candidates with the tools they need to enter the cybersecurity workforce as quickly as possible," said Patrick Craven, director of the Center for Cyber Safety and Education. "We applaud these men and women for the hard work they've done to get here and are proud to assist them along their journey."

Engility and the Center for Cyber Safety and Education award the CyberWarrior Scholarships twice a year. The scholarship program is open to military veterans honorably discharged from one of the five branches of the military or those currently serving as active members in the National Guard or Reserves. The scholarships include everything the recipients need to prepare to become certified for a career in cybersecurity, including training classes, textbooks, materials and exam vouchers for the (ISC)2® certification of their choice.

At the end of the training, the veterans will have enhanced opportunities to secure cybersecurity jobs with highly technical cyber skill sets, such as security analyst, security engineer, security auditor and security architect. The program focuses on six (ISC)² certifications: Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP®), Certified Secure Software Lifecycle Professional (CSSLP®), Certified Cloud Security Professional (CCSP®), HealthCare Information Security and Privacy Practitioner (HCISPP®), Certified Authorization Professional (CAP®) and Systems Security Certified Practitioner (SSCP®).

Four more scholarships will be awarded later this year for those honorably discharged as of October 26, 2018 or currently serving in the Guard or Reserves. Applicants may apply starting August 1, 2018 until September 24, 2018 at www.IAmCyberSafe.org/cyberwarrior/.
