"Congratulations to Career Gear Houston for receiving the Partnership Grant Program award from Green Bank and FHLB Dallas to help support its Business Enterprise Program," said Texas State Representative Shawn Thierry (D-146). "I sincerely commend Career Gear Houston for its efforts to support the underserved men in our community by promoting economic independence. The career development, financial literacy, professional attire and life skills training that Career Gear provides is critical for these young men to succeed and become role models to younger generations. Thank you to Green Bank and FHLB Dallas for providing the much-needed financial resources that enable nonprfit organizations like Career Gear to provide essential support to underserved communities."

In addition to offering professional attire and life skills training to Houston men, Career Gear also aims to help men gain employment and become role models for their families and communities.

"Through the PGP, we have been able to build stronger, more collaborative relationships partnering on more programmatic aspects of service to our community," said Career Gear Executive Director Jamay Fishback. "We're so thrilled and grateful for the value that was recognized in our program and mission."

"Strengthening the community is foundational to Green Bank's mission and part of who we are as a bank," said Green Bank Vice President and Community Development Officer Courtney Taylor. "The PGP is a conduit through which we can make a difference and serve our community."

For 2018, FHLB Dallas has awarded $300,000 in PGP funds through 31 member institutions to assist 32 community-based organizations. Combined with the $114,010 contributed by FHLB Dallas members, a total of $414,010 has been awarded to the organizations.

"By matching our members' contributions, FHLB Dallas is fulfilling the partnership aspect of the program," said FHLB Dallas Vice President and Affordable Housing Program Manager Bruce Hatton. "We're proud to partner with Green Bank to help empower low-income men through Career Gear in the Houston area."

Since 2016, Career Gear has served more than 5,000 men and male youth in employment transition. Some notable achievements of Career Gear include helping more than 1,122 veterans transition into the workforce and offering employment support services to 1,100 unemployed fathers and 877 youth.
