Canvas Announces Badges Powered By Badgr For All Canvas UsersSALT LAKE CITY, July 25, 2018 /PRNewswire/ -- Canvas by Instructure, the open learning management system (LMS) that makes teaching and learning easier, will now offer Open Badges through Badgr as a native feature in Canvas. Badgr is an achievement recognition and tracking system built by Concentric Sky that is used to issue, organize and share Open Badges. This feature, announced today at InstructureCon, will give educators a robust, scalable and feature-rich platform for badging. "We want to give all educators the opportunity to implement outcomes-based learning with micro-credentials and badges," said Jared Stein, vice president of higher education strategy at Instructure. "By offering Badgr to all Canvas usrs, it becomes much easier for anyone to try it." With Badgr now native to Canvas, teachers can effortlessly create badges within Canvas, and associate those badges with the completion of modules in their course. Teachers will be able to easily see the progress of students in their course and export badging data. Additionally, students can view a privacy-protected class leaderboard to see how they compare to their classmates. As part of this change, all Canvas users currently using Canvabadges will be migrated to Badgr. "The education landscape is changing quickly, and it's more important than ever that students can show the skills and abilities they've mastered," said Wayne Skipper, founder and CEO of Concentric Sky. "With Badgr now available for all users of Canvas, teachers and students have a host of new options for achieving and demonstrating student success." ABOUT CANVAS ABOUT INSTRUCTURE CONTACT:
