Comodo Cybersecurity and Pittsburgh Technical College Empower Future IT LeadersCLIFTON, N.J., July 19, 2018 /PRNewswire/ -- Comodo Cybersecurity, a global innovator of cybersecurity solutions and a division of Comodo Security Solutions Inc., today announced collaboration with Pittsburgh Technical College (PTC) for the cybersecurity empowerment of future IT leaders. PTC offers an Associates Degree in network security and computer forensics, in which students learn about cybersecurity trends, information assurance and regulatory compliance, and security auditing. Michael Hodder, IT Faculty member at PTC, knows that he has a small window to equip the next generation of IT leaders for positions of responsibility at leading enterprises; and it's not a charge he takes lightly. To ensure that students at PTC are fully prepared for the professional IT world, Hodder seeks to provide them with hands-on experience using market-leading solutions. "What makes us different at Pittsburgh Technical College is that we have a hands-on approach to learning," says Hodder. "Most colleges have lectures, homework and tests. Here, you do those things, but also spend a fair amount of time making solutions work." With a keen focus on equipping students for post-graduate qualifications, PTC sought out reputable technology suppliers for partnership, to offer students access to current market solutions, concluding that Comodo Cybersecurity was the best decision. PTC sought a platform that would reflect what students encounter at managed service providers (MSPs) since a large number of graduates are hired as network operations center (NOC) engineers or in help desk positions. Specifically, PTC wanted students to interact with production-grade products and iterfaces, with visibility into multiple organizations' networks. The Comodo One platform was a seamless fit. One of the significant reasons Hodder selected the platform is because it is cloud-based and easy to implement: "There was zero turn-around time on installation, allowing me to focus more time on teaching concepts that the students need to know." After implementing the solution, PTC was pleased with the functionality of Comodo One. Hodder added, "With Comodo Cybersecurity's Comodo One platform, you can monitor remotely and review logs and alerts. You can manage help desk tickets, projects, users and patch management. This enables PTC students to perform IT service management on the networks they have built. PTC students are impressed by Comodo One as well. They enjoy using the platform and find it easy to use," says Hodder. PTC's favorable outlook on the convenience and efficiency of Comodo Cybersecurity solutions has influenced their decision to use the firm's Advanced Endpoint Protection (AEP) for safeguarding 85 to 140 endpoints on campus, in addition to their recent onboarding of the company's "MyDLP," to give students experience with an enterprise data loss protection tool. As a teaching tool, Hodder will also implement Comodo Cybersecurity's cWatch Web, a cloud-based stack of managed website and web app security defenses, including security information and event management (SIEM), Web Application Firewall (WAF), Content Delivery Network (CDN), Malware Detection Scanning and Virtual Patching. Hodder will expand the college's cWatch licenses, so students can gain more experience with attack prevention for websites and web applications. About Pittsburgh Technical College PTC's hands-on approach to education and active learning environment replicates the reality of a workplace so closely that our students enter the workforce with the ability to work in a team environment, interpret customer needs, communicate well, interact effectively with people and analyze problems.
