NSTA Executive Director Tapped to Serve as Vice Chair for National STEM Education Advisory Panel

The National Science Teachers Association (NSTA) released the following statement regarding the announcement made this afternoon by the National Science Foundation (NSF), in consultation with the Department of Education, NASA and the National Oceanic (News - Alert) and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA), about the appointment of 18 members to the National STEM Education Advisory Panel. NSTA Executive Director Dr. David Evans will serve as the vice chair for the new panel.

I look forward to working with this esteemed group of individuals to advise the Committee on Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics Education and to help update the 2013- 2018 Federal STEM Education 5-Year Strategic Plan.

The National STEM Education Advisory Panel's work to improve the efficiency, coordinaion, and impact of federally-supported STEM education investments will be critical to the foundation of our nation's future workforce, national security, and to the country's science and technology literate society. The decisions this panel will be making about STEM education will have far-ranging impacts on the next generation of scientists and engineers who will improve our standard of living in the years ahead."
