Chubb Collaborates with Carnegie Mellon University's Heinz College of Information Systems and Public PolicyCyber Security Certification Program Launched to Educate Insurance Industry Leaders WHITEHOUSE STATION, N.J., July 10, 2018 /CNW/ -- Chubb has launched the Cyber COPE Insurance Certification ProgramSM (CCIC) in collaboration with Carnegie Mellon University's Heinz College of Information Systems and Public Policy (Heinz College). The program gives commercial agents, brokers, and wholesalers the opportunity to learn and become certified in industry best practices in cyber security risk management, governance, and operations. The CCIC program underscores Chubb's deep experience in cyber insurance and Heinz College's cyber security expertise to offer a curriculum that helps agents and brokers differentiate themselves to existing and prospective clients and further empowers them to educate their clients on improving cyber security protocols. The curriculum incorporates Chubb's Cyber COPE® underwriting methodology, which is based on a risk evaluation model universally used by property underwriters for hundreds of years. The seven-month program consists of three residential sessions on Carnegie Mellon's campus, a series of virtual learning modules and a capstone project. Included within the curriculum are sessions on: origins of computer science; cyber-risk resilience; cyber governance and insurance solutions; cyber law, diagnostics, assessment and measurement; and insurance solutions, including presenting about exposures and subsequent coverage. The program's small size — no more than 40 participants — helps foster an intimate, collaborative learning environment. The curriculum is administered by a combination of Chubb professionals and Carnegie Mellon professors. "This program was designed to give participants an opportunity to deepen their understanding of cyber risk and to be hands-on with cyber security," said Bobbie Goldie, Senior Vice President, North America Financial Lines at Chubb. "Not only will the certification help participants grow as insurance professionals, but it will givethem a holistic look at the cyber security landscape as well as the chance to demonstrate their growth through the program's capstone project." All available slots for the 2018 program have already been filled, but applications are being accepted for 2019.
