NAB Show concluded its second day of sessions and special events featuring breakthrough technologies and innovations across media, entertainment and technology. This year's NAB Show runs through Thursday, April 12.

The morning Main Stage session "From Podcast to Broadcast" featured Zach Braff, executive producer and director of ABC's "Alex, Inc.;" Matt Tarses, executive producer and writer for "Alex, Inc.;" Donald Albright, producer of Tenderfoot TV's "Up and Vanished;" and Payne Lindsey, host of "Up and Vanished" and "Atlanta Monster" in conversation with CNN's Sandra Gonzales. The group discussed the challenges and opportunities in audio-to-visual storytelling, building audiences across new mediums, and how podcasting allows creators to tell stories in different ways.

During the new We Are Broadcasters Celebration, FCC (News - Alert) Chairman Ajit Pai addressed attendees on how the FCC is working to eliminate outdated regulations to help broadcasters better serve their local communities. Film and television actress Kristen Bell was honored with the NAB Television Chairman's Award, which was established to recognize individuals for significant achievements across multiple mediums.

Mark Aitken, VP of advanced technology at Sinclair Broadcast Group, received the Television Engineering Achievement Award, while Tom Jones, president of the Carl T. Jones Corporation, was awarded the Radio Engineering Achievement Award. Clay Freinwald, owner of Freinwald Technical Service, was honored with the Service to Broadcast Engineering Achievement Award. The NAB Crystal Radio Awards, honoring outstanding public service, were also presented to 10 stations from across the country. Hubbard Radio's WTOP-FM, Washington, D.C. was honored with the Crystal Heritage Award.



As part of the Business of Sports Entertainment conference, during "Keeping It Real: Delivering Live Programming to Today's Sports Fans," WNBA President Lisa Borders was joined by Raul Gutierrez of T-Mobile (News - Alert) Arena in Las Vegas, Sheila Oliver with KMSP-WFTC in Minneapolis, Marshall Zelaznik of Glory Sports International and moderator Chris Ariens of "Adweek" to discuss how fans are changing the dynamics in live sports and the ever-increasing importance of delivering the best in-venue experience possible.

A panel titled "Crisis on the Strip: Reporting in an Unfolding Emergency" Assistant Sheriff Charles Hank, Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department; Todd Brown, vice president/general manager, KVVU-TV, Meredith Corporation; Patrick Walker, reporter/co-host, KLAS-TV, Nexstar Media Group; Hub Brown, associate professor, Syracuse University; and moderator Carla Rae, morning show host on Beasley Broadcast Group's 96.3 KKLZ, in a discussion about how Las Vegas broadcasters worked with first responders to provide accurate emergency information to the public during the mass shooting in Las Vegas in the fall of 2017. FCC Commissioner Brendan Carr gave introductory remarks prior to the discussion.
