Bandwidth Introduces A More Powerful Alternative To Short Codes With Enterprise A2P Messaging Offering

RALEIGH, N.C., March 13, 2018 /PRNewswire/ -- Enterprise CPaaS company Bandwidth today announced the launch of their new Enterprise A2P Messaging, a powerful alternative to short codes for business messaging at scale.

Bandwidth's Application-to-Person (A2P) SMS product is built using toll-free SMS as its backbone. Bandwidth's toll-free focused offering differs from the industry-standard short codes commonly used for A2P messaging, boasting similar send and delivery rates along with the ability to make a phone call using the same toll-free number— a more cost effective solution that removes the approval wait times that are commonly associated with five or six digit short codes.

"We believe that toll-free SMS is the new standard for business messaging," said Bandwidth Vice President of Messaging Services, Jason Sommerset. "Businesses need more than what short codes are able to offer, and local phone numbers are not set up to handle the volume that enterprise use cases demand. We're able to offer the best of both worlds with our A2P product, delivering at scale for an even better customer experience. We're proud to pave the way for innovation in the toll-free messaging space with numbers that are both voice and messaging enabled with enterprise scale."

Enterprise A2P Messaging will bring forth the ability to power new higher vlume use cases, like customer service notifications (alerts, appointment reminders), for Bandwidth's customers, while providing an even better quality of service for more traditional two-way use cases like customer interactions.

Another aspect that differentiates Bandwidth's Enterprise A2P Messaging offering from other A2P messaging products is the ability to easily switch from text messaging to phone calls at high volume. Because Bandwidth's API platform is backed by their own nationwide all-IP voice network,  Bandwidth customers will enjoy an owner economics-backed cost structure, and additional layers of control for these voice interactions.

"With the rise of text messaging use cases in the business world, Dialpad relies on Bandwidth Messaging to deliver customers a reliable, robust text messaging solution that scales as we grow our own business," said Dialpad CEO Craig Walker. " We expect this area will grow exponentially, as more businesses begin to incorporate messaging in their customer care, sales, and support strategies."

Analyst Raul Castanon-Martinez from 451 Group agrees with Bandwidth's unique approach to application-to-person messaging, saying, "Bandwidth's Enterprise A2P Messaging is a great choice for businesses who have a need for massive scale, and demand more than what a short code offers in delivering on omni-channel communications strategy. Bandwidth's offering, built with toll-free SMS offers the same level of deliverability and scalability as short codes, with added flexibility for two-way messaging and voice calling capabilities."
