LastPass Recognized in Independent Research Firm Enterprise Password Management Vendor Landscape Report

BOSTON, March 13, 2018 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- LastPass, a pioneer and one of the leaders in password management, has been recognized as a solution in Forrester Research’s Best Practices: Selecting, Deploying, And Managing Enterprise Password Managers. The report discusses the password-related issues currently facing security professionals and the risks they present to businesses. Forrester offers practical guidance and recommendations security professionals can use to keep password costs and risks in check while maximizing employee productivity, highlighting five EPM vendors including LastPass Enterprise.

According to the report, passwords remain the most common method of user authentication in the enterprise with employee behavior exacerbating password risks.  With an EPM solution in place, security teams are able to provide policy consistency around passwords, thus reducing the risk of account compromise from weaker passwords. Additionally, the report discusses how EPM solutions bridge thegap and complement other identity and access management (IAM) capabilities.

While the report states that single-sign-on (SSO) and two-factor authentication should be an essential component of an IAM strategy, EPM solutions can complement these initiatives by providing capabilities that improve employee experience and productivity and help contain password-related risks.

“We put as many systems and applications as we can behind our identity provider, but our employees are always going to have separate credentials or shared accounts for various tools that may not support SSO,” said Bryan Shields, Engineering Manager at Yelp. “We realized the importance of offering a secure password management solution to store and share those credentials, which led us to LastPass. If you don’t provide a password management solution, people are going to find their own ways to store passwords which may not be secure and put your company at risk.”

“Forrester has taken a step to acknowledge password management as a market category and we believe their research validates the value of password mangers in an enterprise setting,” said Steve Schult, Sr. Director of Product Management at LastPass. “Our customers have long been choosing LastPass to centralize password management alongside an identity provider like Okta.”
