'Shepherd Shield' personal security mobile app puts guard dog in your palmSEQUIM, Wash., March 9, 2018 /PRNewswire/ -- "Shepherd Shield" is a personal security app presented by a family-owned business as a tool that puts a guard dog in the palm of your hand.
Security Services Northwest, a multi-dimensional security company headquartered on Washington State's Olympic Peninsula, offers a new level of personal protection via its Shepherd Shield mobile app. "It's all about personal security," says Joe D'Amico, SSNW President and owner since 1986. "Shepherd Shield is your own German shepherd, your personal protector, in your pocket." Shepherd Shield's real-time alerts are issued when a subscriber comes in close proximity of a threat area (based on four threat levels, red being highest), as determined by information obtained from a variety of sources. Subscribers are alerted to Shepherd Shield alerts with the sound of a barking dog.
Shepherd Shield packages provide training for school staff, teachers and students on situational and threat awareness, reaction plans to an active threat, signage and the mobile app itself. The goal is to help campus managers apply a layered approach to security by using the necessary tools, resources and mindset to deny, repel and protect against intruders. D'Amico began developing his Shepherd Shield concept in the wake of the 2012 shooting at Sandy Hook Elementary in Connecticut that left 26 dead. As a father of four, D'Amico said he was deeply affected by the tragedy and Shepherd Shield is how he wants to keep his children, and the children of others, safe. Shepherd Shield television commercials made by Hearts & Minds LLC began airing this week in Washington State.
