Congress Is About to Let Insurers Abandon Their Financial Commitment to Medicare Part D

Despite the fact that insurance companies are now the most profitable segment in the health care industry, if one part of the Bipartisan Budget Act of 2018 survives the legislative process, then insurance companies, along with their pharmacy benefit managers, who administer drugs nearly all Americans take, will effectively be allowed to walk away from the financial support commitments they made fifteen years ago when Part D of the Medicare Modernization Act was passed. Part D has allowed seniors to access the most comprehensive treatment protocols in history, avoiding bankruptcy while enjoying higher quality-of-life because of the cost-sharing it mandates between insurance companies, drug manufacturers, and patients. The Global Healthy Living Foundation and its arthritis community, CreakyJoints, urges Congress to take a closer look at the harm this legislation will do to millions of seniors - who vote more than any other demographic in America.

About Global Healthy Living Foundation

GHLF is also a staunch advocate for vaccines. The Global Healthy Living Foundation is the parent organization of CreakyJoints, the go-to source for millions of arthritis patients and their families world-wide who are seeking education, support, advocacy and patient-centered research through ArthritisPower, the first ever patient-led, patient-centered research registry for joint, bone, and inflammatory skin conditions.
