Olympic Gold Medalist Dominique Moceanu to Open Gymnastics Center with Yoga Studio

Dominique Moceanu, the youngest gymnast to ever win Olympic gold, has announced that she will be opening a first-of-its-kind, gymnastics and yoga center this spring in Medina, conveniently positioned between Cleveland and Akron.

The new facility, the Dominique Moceanu Gymnastics Center, featuring Carmen's Yoga Studio, will begin enrolling students this March and will officially open its doors at 734 N. Progress Drive in Medina in late May. Summer camp registration is open now at www.dominique-moceanu.com and class registration will open in March at the official website: www.DominiqueMoceanuGymnasticsCenter.com.

Safety, positivity and a healthy life balance are priorities that will permeate every aspect of the center, staff and operations. Long a crusader for improved athlete safety at all levels, Moceanu made headlines last year when she testified before the Senate Judiciary Committee in favor of a bipartisan bill to improve safety measures for youth sports nationwide. The bill passed late last yer, thanks in part to Moceanu's passionate statements about the need for youth sports to fight child abuse and protect young athletes without exception.

As always, Moceanu will be setting the bar high at her gymnastics facility, which will focus on instructional gymnastics as well as the healthy development of children. There will be no competitive team programs at the gym. However, the facility will have high- level gymnastics instruction available from Moceanu through summer camps as well as Advanced Gymnastics classes that also feature advanced tumbling.

Classes at the new facility will offer young gymnasts the unique opportunity to improve specific skills and receive advice from an Olympic gold medalist and her personally selected and trained staff. The gym's motto is "peace, strength and balance." An inclusive, friendly and positive atmosphere is Moceanu's mission. The center will combine the principles of yoga and gymnastics under one roof. Yoga classes will be available for adults and children, so moms can relax and de-stress in a yoga class while their children participate in gymnastics sessions. The yoga center is named after Moceanu's young daughter, Carmen. Moceanu's son, Vincent, a competitive gymnast, will train at the gym.

In addition, Moceanu will continue her popular summer camps for children ages 5-18 (which will now be held at the new facility), clinics, instructional gymnastics, private lessons, empowerment workshops and gymnastics technical workshops.

About Dominique Moceanu: Moceanu, who lives in suburban Cleveland with her family, was part of the first U.S. Women's Gymnastics team to win Olympic Gold in 1996. Her team broke barriers in the sport and inspired generations to come with its monumental Olympic victory for the United States. She remains the youngest Olympic gold medalist in U.S gymnastics history at the tender age of 14. She is also the youngest Senior National All-Around Champion in U.S. history (age 13), a nine-time U.S. National Team Member and the winner of back-to-back junior and senior All-Around National Championships (1994-1995). She is a World Championship silver and bronze medalist. In 1998, Dominique became the only American woman in history to win the Goodwill Games All-Around title. She's been inducted into the USA Gymnastics Hall of Fame and the U.S. Olympic Hall of Fame with her 1996 teammates. She also authored a New York Times bestselling memoir, Off Balance, and has become a leading advocate for the safety of young athletes. Learn more at www.Dominique-Moceanu.com.
