Flexday redefines workspace; enables people to work from anywhere

App-powered startup turns restaurants that are only open at night into beautiful workspaces during the day.

TORONTO, Dec. 6, 2017 /CNW/ - Open-concept offices have become the norm, touted for helping to promote a tight-knit company culture and a collaborative atmosphere. Justin Raymond, Founder and CEO of Flexday, is on a mission to solve that problem. Flexday's model is different from other co-working options in the city. The company partners with restaurants that are only open for dinner, turning the otherwise vacant spaces into beautiful daytime work sites. Current partners include Marben on Wellington St. West and SpiritHouse on Adelaide St. West, with additional sites set to come on board in the coming weeks. Flexday equips each site with fast WiFi, premium coffee and tea, and a charging station at every table.

This is Raymond's second entry into the sharing economy — in 2012 he launched Hailo, the global Uber-style taxi hailing app in Canada. "Whenever there's an opportunity to utilize space, vehicles or homes — anything that is sitting idle — it's very intriguing to me," he says. "I think that the real estate industry is a great example of new opportunities that exist from idle space."

Flexday has already caught the attention of business and agency leaders in the city, with several signing up for memberships. At a time when most companies are looking for practical ways to engage talent and ease the frustration of space constraints, Flexday continues to gain momentum as a smart, contemporary workspace option. Flexday has also become a home to many startups and solopreneurs, no doubt attracted to the price point being a fraction of what other workspace options in the city charge.
