For both the cancer patient and the family/loved ones facing this challenge, a trusted CPA financial planner can help navigate the difficult financial matters that lay ahead. 360 Degrees of Financial Literacy and the AICPA's Personal Financial Planning Section jointly with the American Cancer Society are offering a free consumer webcast on Friday, August 11 from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM ET. Experts Martin Shenkman, CPA/PFS and Dr. Leonard Lichtenfeld, deputy chief medical officer for the American Cancer Society will walk listeners through 12 actionable steps that can be taken to preserve or gain control over the aspects of life included under "estate planning."

According to the American Cancer Society, approximately 1.7 million new cancer cases are expected to be diagnosed in 2017. With the cost of treatment varying greatly case to case depending on the type, length and location of treatment as well as the individual's insurance coverage - the one consistent factor across diagnosis' is that it adds up.
