New CompTIA Project+ Certification Exam Available Today

DOWNERS GROVE, Ill., March 15, 2017 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- CompTIA, the world's leading technology association and the leading provider of vendor-neutral skills certifications for technology professionals, today introduced a new version of the CompTIA Project+ certification.

CompTIA Project+ validates the knowledge and skills business professionals need to manage a project life cycle, including critical elements such as communications among project stakeholders, resource management and project documentation.

"Project management is among the business world's most in-demand skills," said James Stanger, senior director, products, CompTIA. "But these skills are no longer the realm of only those individuals who hold the title of 'project manager.' Everyone manages or participates in a project during their career. The ability to plan, manage resources and time and communicate are skills that virtually any worker can utilize."

CompTIA Project+ has been retooled based on input from thousands of qualified project managers. The new exam (PK0-004) will help any individual or organization ensure that best practices for project management are followed.

"Companies increasingly require their employees to understand the basics of project management, because they recognize that ell-run projects save time and ensure continued focus on the organization's goals," Stanger explained.

Project management ranked among the top four specialized skills it IT job postings during the fourth quarter of 2016, according to the CompTIA IT Employment Snapshot report.

"Project management is an essential skill for all professionals," said Tazneen Kasem, director of products for CompTIA. "We created Project+ to vet the project management skills of individuals from all professions, not just information technology."

Unlike other project management certifications that begin at a high-skill level or require years of experience, CompTIA Project+ covers fundamentals that any team member can benefit from. The exam tests skills and abilities in four areas or domains: project basics from initiation to closure; project constraints, such as time, cost and risk; communication and change management; and project tools and documentation.

More than 50,000 individuals around the world are CompTIA Project+ certified.

CompTIA Approved Quality Content for the new exam is being developed by several authorized partners, including CompTIA Learning, ITPro.tv, Logical Operations, McGraw Hill, Pearson Education, Skillsoft, Sybex, and Transcender. Visit the CompTIA Marketplace for information on courseware and Instructor-Led Training for training options.

The previous version of the CompTIA Project+ exam (PK0-003) remains available until Sept. 30, 2017. Certification candidates who have been studying for that version of the exam are encouraged to continue with their preparation and to take that exam.

With more than two million certifications awarded around the globe, CompTIA is the leading provider of vendor-neutral skills certifications that validate proficiency in cloud computing, mobility, Linux, networking, project management, security, storage and other mission-critical technologies.
