(South Florida Sun Sentinel (FL) Via Acquire Media NewsEdge) Aug. 31--Nonprofit Avery Danforth has joined Milagro Center in Delray Beach as program director. Hannah Lim, vice president and chief litigation counsel for ADT LLC of Boca Raton, has been appointed to Milagro Center's board of directors.



Sean Lummus joined Sunserve, South Florida's Social Services Agency for the LGBTQ community as training coordinator in Fort Lauderdale.

Education John A. Benz and Pamela Stephany were appointed by the Broward College District Board of Trustees as chair and vice chair, respectively. Benz, who has served on the board since 2010, is senior vice president and chief strategic officer for Memorial Healthcare System. He also serves as the president/CEO of South Florida Community Care Network, a Broward community-based health plan owned by Broward Health and the Memorial Healthcare System. Stephany has served on the board since 2011 and before her retirement was deputy manager of North America of Credit Suisse Private Advisors. ¿ Fabienne E. Fahnestock has been elected secretary of the Early Learning Coalition of Broward County board of directors. Fahnestock is a shareholder in Gunster's business litigation practice.Nori Madrigal was appointed Rosarian Academy interim head of school by its board of directors.


Law Barbara Ferrer, a former partner at Holland & Knight, has joined the Miami office of GrayRobinson P.A.

Rick Levy, a Miami-based court reporter, was elected to a three-year term on the National Court Reporters Association's board of directors.

David Gellen joined Akerman LLP as a partner in the Boca Raton office. Other new partners include real estate lawyer Michelle Gonzalez in Miami and litigator Stacey Ibarra in West Palm Beach.

Alvin D. Lodish and Scott D. Kravetz and Special Counsel Michael J. Shuman joined Duane Morris' Miami office as trial partners.

Karissa L. Owens has been appointed managing partner of the new Fort Lauderdale office of Rissman, Barrett, Hurt, Donahue & McLain, P.A.

Roger Feicht, an associate in Gunster's West Palm Beach office, was named chair-elect of the 2014-15 board of governors of Connect Florida, leading regional activity of the young professionals' organization, and will serve on the 2014-15 leadership team for Leadership Florida. In addition, Joe Chase, also an associate in Gunster's West Palm Beach office, was recently accepted into Connect's Class V Leadership Institute.

Zascha Blanco Abbott of FordHarrison LLP in Miami was elected legal education director for The Florida Bar -- Labor and Employment Law Section for 2014-2015.

Consumer Douglas Stein, president of HMS National, a provider of home warranty products and maintenance plans, was named president of the National Home Service Contract Association, a national nonprofit organization serving home service contract providers and consumer interests.

Recognition Florida Atlantic University President John Kelly awarded a President's Medallion for Distinguished Service to Arthur Jaffe, a World War II veteran and philanthropist who introduced his collection of rare handmade artists' books to tens of thousands of people in South Florida and founded the Arthur and Mata Jaffe Center for Book Arts at the Wimberly Library, Boca Raton campus.

St. George Guardabassi, senior vice president at Berger Commercial Realtyin Fort Lauderdale, has been named Rotarian of the Year by the Rotary Club of Fort Lauderdale, in honor for chairing the New River Raft Race annual fundraiser.

Construction Martin Driscoll joined Deerfield Beach-based general contractor RCC Associates as director of business development. He most recently was president and consultant for D Capital based in Highland Beach and president of Greenstar Service, Naglelbush Electric and Safe Harbor Electric.

Miya Wong was promoted to director of marketing for the South Florida design/build and construction services firm Miller Construction Co. She joined the Fort Lauderdale-based business in 2011 as marketing coordinator.

Real estate Wendy Collins and Diana Mancipe joined Berger Commercial Realty in Fort Lauderdale as property managers. Roxana Collins joined the firm as a broker associate.

Community Mindy Hanken has been appointed as CEO of The Mandel JCC of the Palm Beaches, which includes two locations: Mandel JCC Palm Beach Gardens and The Mandel JCC Boynton Beach. Hanken has worked for the organization for more than six years, most recently as chief operating officer.

Networking The Northern Palm Beach chapter of the American Business Women's Association recently named the upcoming 2014-2015 officers as President Pat Key, Vice President Dottie Smith, Secretary Rebecca Ott and Treasurer Janice Kuhns.

Engineering Lauren McClellan recently joined the civil engineering and planning division of Wantman Group Inc. in its corporate office in West Palm Beach.

Finance Ramon Usategui, has been named senior vice president and manager of Ocean Bank's Brickell wealth management office. Previously, Usategui was with Gibraltar Private Bank, where he was senior vice president and market executive in Coral Gables.

Maria D. Franco was named manager of TD Bank's Pembroke Pines West branch. Previously, she was at U.S. Century Bank as a branch manager in Miami Lakes.

Logistics Julio C. Barrionuevo was appointed Miami-based FedEx Express LAC senior vice president of operations, Mexico, CENTAM and the Caribbean. He will oversee the day-to-day operations of FedEx Express, as well as FedEx Global Services Partners in the region.

Cultural Jeff Krinsky was named president of ithe board of trustees of the Perez Art Museum Miami (PAMM). In addition, the new trustees are T. Christian Armstrong, Chloe Berkowitz, Manuel A. Diaz, John Fumagalli, Laura Kaplan, Daniel Koffsky and David Martin. Rosie Gordon-Wallace will serve as president of the PAMM Docent Association.

Public Relations Lori McQuestion was named vice president of public relations for TransMedia Group in Boca Raton. McQuestion is a Dj/MC and vocalist entertainer. Previously, she reported traffic mornings on Power 96 (96.5 FM) and 790/The Ticket and filled in on CBS-4.

Travel Ralph Aliseo has joined MSC Cruises USA cruise line as associate director of national and strategic accounts, a newly expanded role for the line, in Fort Lauderdale. Most recently, he was with Azamara Club Cruises as a strategic business development manager. Previously, he held development positions at Royal Caribbean International and Carnival Cruise Lines. He began his career as a group manager at Cruise Planners/American Express.

Industrial Jonathan Klevan was promoted to staff engineer of Professional Service Industries Inc.'s Miami. office. Christopher Andreoni joined the company as staff engineer in Fort Lauderdale.
