Lenovo targets higher smartphone growth in Qatar with new models [Gulf Times (Qatar)]

(Gulf Times (Qatar) Via Acquire Media NewsEdge)  The Vibe Z2 Pro, designed with the performance-hungry user in mind, exhibits a large 6-inch screen with 2K resolution, offering consumers an immersive multimedia experience Lenovo, a $39bn personal technology company, is strengthening its presence in Qatar's growing smartphone market with it's diverse portfolio as part of expanding its geographical footprint.

"September will see the release of the high-performance and blazingly fast Vibe Z2 Pro, along with five other models, bringing Lenovo's total Qatar portfolio to 10 smartphones," a spokesperson for the Hong Kong Stock Exchange-listed company said.

Designed with the performance-hungry user in mind, Vibe Z2 Pro exhibits a large 6-inch screen with 2K resolution, offering consumers an immersive multimedia experience.

An advanced 16MP rear camera with image stabilisation effortlessly captures brilliant photos and 4K videos rivalling high-end compact cameras. At just 7.7mm thin with a unique metallic brushed-weave design, the Vibe Z2 Pro promises stellar performance, the company said.

It can be further set apart by its 6-inch display, producing razor-sharp and true-to-life visuals. The IPS panel not only packs 2,560 x 1,440 pixels, its 490ppi screen density is also one of the highest among existing premium smartphones, it said.

Lenovo smartphones were launched early this month and included the dual-SIM and quad-core S-series with the slim and fashionable S850 with its 5-inch HD display and all-glass design; the S860 with its 5.3-inch HD display and epic 4000mAh battery, delivering up to 24 hours' talk time on 3G and 43 hours on 2G, plus 40 days' active standby; the S650 with its 4.7-inch HD display and laser-etched, fabric-feel cover with a 3D-textured design.

In addition to the S-series, Lenovo has launched the affordable A369i with dual-SIM and 4-inch display, running on its powerful 1.3GHz dual-core processor.

Lenovo smartphones will be available at all major retailers and will be distributed in Qatar through Redington for organised retail and through Axiom for independent retail. Axiom will also provide after sales support.

"As smartphones continue to capture a larger market share of the mobile phone market, there is a tremendous potential for smartphone growth in Qatar that we are confident of tapping into. This year, we are seeing a hunger for smartphones and an increase in mobile data usage, enabling a new world of mobile business, entertainment and social networking," Shashank Sharma, director, mobile business group at Lenovo Middle East and Africa, said.

Select models of Lenovo smartphones will also come equipped with a range of DOit apps. With the award-winning SHAREit, users can instantly share pictures, videos, music files, documents, contacts and even apps with up to five devices without an Internet connection. It wirelessly transfers information or even the app itself between devices at up to 40x faster than Bluetooth.

Terming the Middle East, GCC (Gulf Co-operation Council) in particular, as a "strategically important" market for Lenovo's smartphones, he said with the continued expansion of 4G networks in the region, and a strong push towards smart cities and connectivity, there is a natural consumer need for smartphones at all levels."
