Infoblox Enhances Network Control and Automated Provisioning of Network Resources for Private Clouds Running on VMware

SANTA CLARA, Calif. --(Business Wire)--

Infoblox (News - Alert) Inc. (NYSE:BLOX), the network control company, today announced that it has enhanced the Infoblox IPAM Plug-in for VMware vCenter™ Orchestrator™, VMware vCloud Director®, VMware vCloud® Automation Center for Desktop and VMware vCloud® Automation Center™ for Server, adding powerful new capabilities for DNS, DHCP, and IP address management (DDI) for private cloud networks.

The Infoblox IPAM plug-in for VMware, introduced in June 2013, eliminates the need to manually set up network services for VMware environments. By automatically provisioning and de-provisioning IP addresses and DNS records for virtual machines as they are created, moved, and removed, the plug-in can dramatically reduce the time required to bring up services and can increase network agility while lowering operating costs.

New features in the Infoblox IPAM plug-in for VMware include:

  • Full support for managing IP address and DNS records across overlapping and non-overlapping networks in multi-tenant environments-the most requested feature of VMware enterprise customers. This allows networks to be brought together, such as during mergers or acquisitions, without requiring complex reconfiguration of IP addresses.
  • Ability to assign IP addresses and DNS records to virtual machines based on network metadata such as country, state, building, etc., by using Infoblox Extensible Attributes. This automates the previously time-consuming and error-prone process of assigning appropriate IP address to new virtual machines.
  • Simplified VMware vCloud Automation Center network provisioning by eliminating the need to manually create network profiles in vCloud Automation Center. All IP and DNS configurations are tracked and managed directly within Infoblox.

"Infoblox is helping optimize network automation in virtualized data centers," said Rob Smoot, senior director, Cloud Management Marketing, VMware. "The new capabilities Infoblox is introducing make it possible to automatically provision network resources in minutes instead of hours or days, as well as efficiently manage multiple networks of virtual machines through a single user interface."

"VMware continues to set the industry standard for private cloud deployments," said Scott Fulton, executive vice president of products at Infoblox. "Infoblox is committed to helping IT organizations maximize agility and cost savings through strong partnership with VMware and continued innovation in our cloud network automation solutions."

The Infoblox IPAM Plug-in for VMware vCenter Orchestrator, VMware vCloud Director, VMware vCloud Automation Center for Desktop and VMware vCloud Automation Center for Server is available now and is free for existing Infoblox customers.
