NCSI launches 'Tour Oman' smartphone app [Week, The (Oman)](Week, The (Oman) Via Acquire Media NewsEdge) The National Center for Statistics and Information (NCSI) recently launched the 'Tour Oman' applica tion in conjunction with the start of the Salalah Tourism Festival, a press release said. The application was launched as part of efforts to provide the latest statistics and information related to economic, social and tourism aspects of the sultanate. It is also a continuation of NCSI's approach in serving the Omani society, residents and visitors by providing them an array of services. Developed as part of the NCSI's plan to provide spatial services, the application gives access to information backed with geographical locations to citizens as well as visitors of the sultanate. 'Tour Oman' currently covers tourist, historical and archaeolog ical sites. This includes information backed with the geographical location of natural tourist attractions like water springs, wadis seasonal and permanent, and waterfalls. In addition, the app also provides information about museums, hotels, restaurants, parks, shopping, entertainment and recreational centres as well as information about hospitals, schools, banks, ministries and other government offices.
