BRIEF: Uberx ride service starting up in West Palm Beach [The Palm Beach Post, Fla. :: ](Palm Beach Post (FL) Via Acquire Media NewsEdge) Aug. 07--Uber Florida said today it is rolling into West Palm Beach and Fort Lauderdale. The ride sharing service uberX offers Uber reliability with prices 27 percent cheaper than a taxi. The service began operating in Miami this summer. All driver partners must undergo Uber's rigorous screening process, the company said, including passing a stringent background check, a driving history check and ongoing quality controls. You can request a ride through the Uber app on your smart phone. You can download the Uber app from the iTunes App Store, Google Play Store or Blackberry App World. Once you you've downloaded the Uber app and set up your account, you can request a ride with two quick taps: 1. Let the Uber app find your location via GPS or type in your address or venue manually 2. Select "Set Pickup Location" 3. Choose your desired car type using the slider at the bottom of the screen 4.
