Blues, Berries and Jam series begins in New Haven Wednesday [New Haven Register, Conn. :: ]

(New Haven Register (CT) Via Acquire Media NewsEdge) July 07--NEW HAVEN -- With Arts and Ideas activity gone from the weekday summer scene on the New Haven Green, there's room for some sweet midweek fun and jam.

Enter Blues, Berries and Jam, a concert series and City Seed Farmers' Market site operating Wednesdays for eight weeks from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. (music from noon to 1:30).

It's the 14th year BB&J, organized by UltraRadio.com, an internet radio station that plays Connecticut musicians, in conjunction with New Haven's Town Green Special Services District and New Haven Department of Parks, Recreation and Trees.

One of those local groups, Cobalt Rhythm Kings, kicks off the season Wednesday with a rocking blues set.

And the outdoor season is a great time to stock up on fresh produce and gourmet food items grown and prepared in the state, say fans of the farmers' market.

Musicians performing in succeeding weeks are: Branchwater on July 16; Matt Rhone & Grit Rhythm July 23; The Mojo Boys on July 30; Bluzberry Pi on Aug. 6; Frank Viele on Aug. 13; The Langley Brothers Project on Aug. 20 and The Travis Moody Band Aug. 27.

In a release, Win Davis, executive director of the New Haven Town Green Special Services District, said, "We are excited to have Blues, Berries, and Jam for eight Wednesdays. This is one of New Haven's busiest summers ever with fun things for people to do every week." ___ (c)2014 the New Haven Register (New Haven, Conn.)
