Burning is Not Dead: Ashampoo Sees Increase in Year-to-Year Demand from Consumers for Burning Software

BOSTON --(Business Wire)--

Ashampoo, a software developer with more than 170 million downloads, has reviewed its June 2013-June 2014 statistics and found an increase in downloads of its burning software, Burning Studio. The year-on-year increase reflects an uptick in consumer burning since June 2013 - when Edward Snowden revealed that the US National Security Agency (News - Alert) (NSA) was collecting citizen data.

The increased downloads include both free and full versions of Ashampoo's Burning Studio, and includes consumers in North America and Europe.

"From 2010 to 2011, we saw a general decrease in downloads of our Ashampoo Burning Studio Free Edition and our Burning Studio 14 products", said Sebastian Schwarz, Ashampoo CEO. "This was to be expected in line with the way users began to adopt the cloud and virtual services to store personal data. But as we analyzed the last year's data, we saw this begin to change from June 2013, which corresponds with the NA making headlines around the globe. This shows that, far from being a thing of the past, burning as a way to save data, files and documents, is on the rise - users feel safer burning their personal data. For consumers that don't want to use any type of online storage or cloud offerings, it's a tangible and trusted solution."

To date, Ashampoo Burning Studio has been downloaded more than 60 million times.
