Metro offers free Wi-Fi connectivity at all stations [Mumbai] [Times of India]


(Times of India Via Acquire Media NewsEdge) MUMBAI: Commuters can now access the internet at all Metro stations via wi-fi. This facility will be available on moving trains as well by the end of this month.

An MMOPL spokesperson said, "As an introductory offer, commuters can avail free internet connectivity for initial 15 minutes every day. To stay online for more time, the commuters can buy the introductory coupons just for Rs 100 (non-refundable), which will allow them wi-fiaccess for 180 hours." These coupons would be valid for six months from the day of purchase. The introductory offer is valid for the first 5,000 buyers. MMOPL has tied up with Youbroadband to provide the connectivity. Commuters can purchase the coupons from the customer care centres at the Metro stations.



He further said, "We have received overwhelming response as over 1,000 commuters have already used wi-finetwork till evening on Thursday." Mumbai Metro also has plans to offer this value-added service in trains. He said, "We will provide wi-fi connectivity in trains as well by the end of the month, thus matching the international standard." Ghatkopar commuter Raksha Shah said, "It is a great initiative as many building have poor cellular connectivity." To log on to the internet, users will have to select Wi-Fi @ Mum Metro by Youbroadband as their network. When a user will open the browser, it will automatically direct him/her to the youbroadband registration page.

Commuters seeking the wi-fi access are required to register on the landing page by providing names, phone numbers etc and then send an SMS to an authorized number given on the website to authenticate them.
