Telecommunications Company Creates App that Makes International Phone Calls Affordable(Cision Via Acquire Media NewsEdge) Call2World seeks crowdfunding to develop its new iCall app that makes international phone calls without using a data connection. [image] BARCELONA, SPAIN—Replacing unreliable VoIP applications and expensive long-distance phone calls, Call2World introduces its new iCall app that provides a quality connection without using data and using the phone’s existing number. Call2World has launched a crowdfunding campaign to raise €25,000 by August 3 to finish developing the app and launch it in approximately 16 weeks. The new iCall app is the most affordable way to make international calls. Available for download in the Apple Store and Google Play, iCall lets users refill their credit on the app store and enjoy an extremely low fixed rate. “With iCall, there is never a gotcha moment of a sky -high phone bill,” said Call2World Project Manager Julia Vreintaal. “You can place your phone call as long as you have credit on the app, even if you lack credit on a prepaid cell phone because iCall doesn’t use your minutes.” Placing a call with iCall is a simple process. On a mobile phone, users click on the iCall app and select from the phone’s contact list or dial a new number. When the user presses “call,” the app will connect to the Call2World’s server to generate a phone call to be received. When the user answers the call, iCall automatically begins the call to the desired contact. “The person you are calling does not need to have the iCall app – just a phone number for you to reach them,” said Vreintaal. The iCall app will be available in several select countries, such as the USA, France, Spain, Malaysia, South Korea, Portugal, Greece, Thailand, Puerto Rico, Hong Kong, Sweden, China, and Singapore, with many more countries to be added soon. The crowdfunding campaign will help Call2World finish developing and launch the app and then expand its reach. Contributors to the campaign giving €20 will receive 300 international minutes in the iCall app, while those giving €50 will receive 900 international minutes and an “early adopter” iPhone case. Contributors giving €100 will receive 1,800 minutes, the “early adopter” iPhone case and key-ring, and a "Barcelona-Style" T-shirt as well as an invitation for two to the launch party aboard a boat cruising around the beaches of Barcelona. Top-level contributors giving €1,500 will receive 6,000 minutes, 10 customized iPhone cases, five "Barcelona-Style" t-shirts, and an invitation to bring 10 friends on the launch party boat ride in Barcelona.
