Record-Breaking CE Week 2014 Concludes in NYC


NEW YORK --(Business Wire)--

CE Week 2014 concluded today after a recording-breaking show with more participating companies and the largest show floor in event history, making it the east coast's largest technology event. CE Week is the consumer electronics industry's top annual mid-year event, bringing together media, analysts and technology thought leaders for product launches, a dynamic conference program and networking events all focused on innovation.

More than 180 companies participated in CE week, ranging from tech startups to major global brands including B&H, Bang & Olufsen, Delphi, Denon, DISH, Harman, LG, Monster, Pioneer Electronics, Sharp, Sony, Tiffen, TiVo and WowWee (News - Alert).

The CE Week Conference Program covered hot topics across the industry including 3D printing, robotics, augmented reality, high resolution audio and wearables. Additionally, Intel (News - Alert) Futurist Brian David Johnson delivered a keynote discussing the future of robotics technology and featured guest-star, Jimmy the Robot, Intel's interactive humanoid. Thursday's keynote speaker, David Putrino, Co-Founder of Ges Therapy and StreetSmartScience, explored the revolution of healthcare through improvements in technology and the resulting direct impact on humanitarian efforts around the world.

CE Week partner conferences were held throughout the week. The Connected Car Conference, focused on game-changing behind-the-wheel innovations, featured executives from the Consumer Electronics Association (CEA)®, Cisco, Pandora (News - Alert) and General Motors. The Your Next TV Conference discussed the technologies that are enhancing the TV experience for consumers and featured executives from Sharp (News - Alert), Sony, LG and Samsung.

Several companies hosted press conferences throughout CE Week making major product announcements including:

  • Sharp - Announced its new ultra HD/4K series, the UD7, which will be available in two sizes, a 60-inch and 70-inch, and will include the latest version of the company's SmartCentral 3.0 Smart TV platform, as well as its mobile app.
  • Pioneer - Introduced the AppRadioLIVE, a new upgrade to the Pioneer AppRadio system. The app aggregates content including news, music, events, traffic and more, integrated into a single user interface.
  • Monster - Head Monster Noel Lee unveiled the Monster DNA PRO 2.0 headphone, which will arrive in August, as well as the Monster 24K line - endorsed by rapper Meek Mill - and Headphones For Haiti, a charity effort to help the people of Haiti.
  • Sony - Top Sony executives discussed the future of 4K Ultra High-Definition (UHD) technology. Mike Fasulo, Sony Electronics president and COO, said he had no doubt that 4K UHD uptake would take place at a fairly fast pace, especially with the breadth of screen sizes and price points expected to populate the marketplace.
  • FiftyThree - Georg Petschnigg, CEO of FiftyThree, gave a live demo of his company's Pencil USB Stylus, showing off how the stylus will gain pressure sensitivity with the new capabilities of iOS 8.
  • Withings - Showcased the company's high quality connected watch, the Activate, which comes with a sapphire glass, has an activity tracking dial and a vibration function for the alarm with the time set automatically by smartphone. It's waterproof and will be available in the fall.



The hottest technologies merged with the latest fashion in the FashionWare Fashion Show on Wednesday evening. The show featured the latest in wearable tech including smart fabrics, embedded sensors, smart jewelry and shoes that were created using 3D printing technology.

Several product awards were given out during CE Week including the Best of Show, presented by Dealerscope. The Innovation Zone award was presented to Perceptive Devices for its head-worn remote control device with finalists including Windowlikr for its mobile-focused video codec and First Sign Technologies, which showcased its headband that automatically detects most violent crimes.
