Hessen, Germany - A location Where Science & Business Fuse Together at the BIO International Convention, San Diego, CA, June 23-26, 2014

Hessen Trade & Invest GmbH (HTAI), the economic development office for the German state of Hessen, based in Wiesbaden, will participate in the BIO International Convention in San Diego, CA (News - Alert) during June 23-26, 2014. Hessen representatives will meet with executives of life science companies interested in establishing a presence in Europe. Hessen has two leading biotech clusters: Southern Hessen (Frankfurt and the Wiesbaden-Darmstadt-Hanau Triangle) and Middle Hessen (Marburg and Gießen).

According to Dr. Detlef Terzenbach, Director - Bio/Nano/Environmental Tech, HTAI, "The BIO International Convention is an ideal stage for Hessen to update potential investors on the quality of our state as a business location for life science companies. Hessen is after all, Gemany's leading biotech production site and Europe's center for the chemical and pharmaceutical industry."

Hessen's reputation as an exceptional location for Biotech companies in Germany and Europe developed via its unmatched Research & Education facilities, strong knowledge-bases and the best infrastructure and market access in Germany with Frankfurt Airport. 225 (59 core) biotech companies are located in Hessen including Sanofi and Novartis. With about 20,000 employees they generate EURO 5.2 billion in revenues (almost doubled from 2002 to 2010). Hessen's success in Biotech is also reflected in various Industrial Parks, 40 Tech/Incubator Centers and more than 100 scientific institutions.

HTAI provides cost-free services such as information on doing business in Germany and potential sites, and introductions to research institutions, industry networks, companies and government agencies.

In addition to investor meetings, Hessen will host its annual BIO Breakfast Cruise at the BIO International Conference on Tuesday, June 24, 2014 bringing together decision-makers from science, business, and government world-wide.
