Dragon Boat Festival: Live from a Drone!

(Canada Newswire Via Acquire Media NewsEdge) OTTAWA, June 21, 2014 /CNW/ - This weekend, spectators at the Ottawa Dragon Boat Festival will get a whole new perspective, for the first time experiencing the races flying through the air, live from a drone.  Alex Wright and his company Drone Depot (dronedepot.com) have received permission from Transport Canada to safely fly his drone at the 70,000 person festival, but he won't just be flying.  Alex's drone, the DJI Phantom 2 (on sale at the festival), will be equipped with DJI Lightbridge, a brand new digital video streaming technology that will broadcast live HD video from the Phantom 2 directly to spectators at the Dragon Boat Festival.  "In the past, the Ottawa Dragon Boat Festival has been unable to properly cover the event on video because any boats in the water would disturb the Dragon Boats" said Sandy Olson, an experienced Dragon Boat Participant and drone spotter for Drone Depot.  "Now we are able to get up close to the boats while not disturbing the race participants." The Drone Depot will be having a special Dragon Boat Festival $50 off sale on the same drone being used to cover the event, the Phantom 2 and H3-3D Gimbal (which includes super steady GoPro camera stabilization). Drone Depot will have the live feed and products available at the Festival, next to the ever popular score boards.

"The Phantom 2 is already the best consumer drone on the market." Alex continued "Now with DJI Lightbridge we've got a professional broadcast tool that will change sports and news coverage forever with its ability to broadcast live HD, now at a more affordable price with our $50 off special." You can catch all the drone and dragon boat action this weekend, July 21 and 22, at Mooney's Bay Park in Ottawa.
