Hormel Foods Donates Product for Tornado Relief Efforts in PilgerAUSTIN, Minn. --(Business Wire)-- Hormel Foods Corporation (NYSE: HRL) today announced a donation of one semitrailer load of product to assist with tornado relief efforts in Pilger, Neb. The donation of Hormel® Compleats® microwave meals and House of Tsang® soups will go to the Food Bank for the Heartland. "Our thoughts and prayers are with all who have been affected by these devastating tornadoes," said Julie H. Craven, vice president of corporate communications at Hormel Foods. "We hope to provide a helpful way to feed the many in need as the difficult process of rebuilding begins." Additionally, the Fremont (Neb.) Plant of Hormel Foods Corporation is donating a pallet of SPAM® family of products to Lutheran Disaster Relief, and 200 pounds of boneless pork loins to Operation BBQ to assist feeding those in need. In addition to the product donations, Fremont Plant employees will be traveling to Pilger to aid in the cleanup efforts. Hormel® Compleats® microwave meals are 10-ounce atisfying meals that feature quality chicken, beef or turkey as well as flavorful vegetables and pasta, potatoes or rice. Convenient for relief efforts, they are a source of protein, do not need to be frozen or refrigerated and can be microwaved in the tray in 60 seconds. Additionally, these meals are fully cooked and can be eaten straight from the package for those without access to electricity. House of Tsang® soups are 10.5-ounce ready-to eat soups with an Asian twist. They have no preservatives added, and they are made with white chicken. SPAM® products are fully-cooked, which makes them perfect for relief efforts. They are made of 100 percent pure pork and ham, and are conveniently packaged for a distinct savory and salty-sweet taste.
