Avanti Communications Launches 'App' to Assist Satellite Installation Engineers

LONDON --(Business Wire)--

Avanti Communications has unveiled a proprietary Android (News - Alert) application to assist with Ka-band satellite field installations. 'Avanti Mobile Assist' optimises the installation process by supporting job allocation, antenna line-up, initiation of service and reporting for engineers.

Suitable for use on any Android smartphone or tablet, the app allows all stages of a standard Hughes (News - Alert) installation to be carried out. It cuts installation equipment costs by up to 75% and reduces installation time by up to 20%, ensuring the end user is online quickly.

The app eliminates the need for tools including: a horizon satellite meter, a laptop, an external GPS unit, a compass/inclinometer or a camera. The service allows engineers to better perform install job management; satellite model configuration and alignment; and service commissioning, testing and reporting.

David Bestwick, Technical Director at Avanti Communications, commented: "Avanti Mobile Assist is an innovative piece of user-friendly technology, which significantly optimises satellite broadband installations for engineers. Using the proprietary app, we have managed to cut installation costs by up to 75% and reduce installation time by up to 20%. It enables our customers tobe up and running even quicker than before."

The app is available for download from the Google (News - Alert) Play store:
