Appraisal Institute of Canada Elects New President to National Board of Directors


(GlobeNewswire - Canada Via Acquire Media NewsEdge) OTTAWA, June 17, 2014 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- The Appraisal Institute of Canada (AIC) is proud to announce that Scott Wilson, AACI, P.App of Prince Edward Island, was inducted as the new AIC president for 2014-2015 during the AIC's Annual Conference held on June 5-8, 2014. Mr. Wilson is the second Islander to have been elected to the position of president in the 76-year history of AIC.



Mr. Wilson has over 20 years of real estate industry experience, including 18 years within the appraisal industry. Scott is a third generation, and fourth family member, to be heavily involved in the PEI real estate industry. He has owned, managed and worked in both real estate and appraisal firms.

Scott was a founding director of AIC's provincial association in PEI, and completed four years as the President of AIC-PEI. Throughout his career, he has been actively engaged as a volunteer at both the provincial and national level. Most recently, he has been on the national Executive Committee and chaired the national Professional Practice Committee and Nominating Committee. Scott has two University of British Columbia Urban Land Economic Diplomas and was awarded his MBA in 2011 as part of the first graduating class at the University of Prince Edward Island.

This year's recipients include: Dan Wilson, AACI, P.App, Fellow of British Columbia; Alex Warga, AACI, P.App, Fellow of Manitoba; Gordon Brewer, AACI, P.App, Fellow of Newfoundland; and Craig Soderquist, AACI, P.App, Fellow of Alberta.

An Honourary AACI was also awarded to Rick Borges, MAI, SRA, AI-RRS, immediate past-president of the Appraisal Institute located in the United States. This prestigious award was granted to Mr. Borges in recognition of his commitment to advancing the profile, respect, body of knowledge, and advocacy of the valuation profession by building stronger alliances with AIC's leadership.
