'NO PLANS' TO ADD TO ARGYLE BOARD ; Owner Brent is happy with current number of directors'No plans' to add to size of Argyle board [Herald, The (Plymouth, England)]

(Herald, The (Plymouth, England) Via Acquire Media NewsEdge) OWNER and chairman James Brent has no plans to make any further additions to the board of directors at Plymouth Argyle.

Brent also stressed that 'all of the key decisions' at Home Park were taken collectively by the board.

Tony Wrathall was controversially reappointed to the Argyle board last season, joining Brent, David Felwick, Richard Holliday, Peter Jones, Colin Sexstone and Martyn Starnes, the club's chief executive.

Wrathall was part of the ill-fated 'New World' regime at Home Park, when the Pilgrims plunged into administration in February 2011 after a catastrophic financial collapse.

Brent told Herald Sport: "In terms of the size of the board, it feels about right to me. There are no plans to increase the number of directors.

"Although there still continues to be too much focus on me, we function as a board. We meet once a month and all of the key decisions are taken by the board. "We spend about 15 minutes of a twoand-a-half or three-hour board meeting Turn to Page 43 talking about football and the rest of it we talk about how we drive revenues into football. "I suspect most football boards spend a lot of time talking about who should be the next left-back." Brent added: "We have a delegated model of responsibility and accountability. The board chose the manager, the board sets the budget and the board provides challenge to the manager.

"It's the manager's job to choose his players and select which ones play on which day. That's none of the board's business.

"But if the manager, with the choices he makes, doesn't perform then it becomes the board's business." Meanwhile, Argyle supporters can have their say on a wide range of topics related to the League Two club in an online close season survey.

It closely matches the format of the 2013 version, to allow for comparative analysis where possible, with a small number of amendments to reflect the changes that have taken place in the last 12 months.

Both the club and the Argyle Fans' Trust have had an opportunity to contribute to the structure and content of the survey.

As in previous years, it is hoped that it will offer the club an independently sourced and useful snapshot of current fan opinion.
