FLIPKART FLIPS THE KART ON E-TAIL FDI(Indian Business Insight Via Acquire Media NewsEdge) Online retailer Flipkart, based in Bangalore, has taken a stand against foreign direct investment (FDI) in online retailing. While India does not allow FDI in online retail companies that own inventory and sell directly to consumers, indications are that this may change by Jul 2014. However, according to Flipkart, FDI in online retailing will benefit only one company, which is Amazon that is already operating in India as a marketplace and wants to enter India through the inventory-based model. |
