Pepperdine University Offers Executive Certificate Translating Brain Science into Strategic Leadership

LOS ANGELES --(Business Wire)--

Pepperdine University's Graziadio School of Business and Management and the research and educational provider NeuroLeadership Institute have partnered to offer a one-of-a-kind six-month certificate program, launching in September 2014. The Executive Certificate in Applied Neuroleadership teaches participants how to translate brain science principles into practical leadership and organizational strategies.

"This executive certificate is the only program to combine face-to-face workshops with live online webinars, faculty-facilitated virtual group discussions, individualized coaching and applied field projects," said program leader Dr. Terri Egan, an associate professor of Applied Behavioral Science at Pepperdine University, who teaches in its top-ranked Masters of Science in Organization Development (MSOD) program. "The certificate program is taught by leaders in the field representing 12 renowned universities, corporations and management firms, among them Carnegie Mellon University, Allergan, New York University and UCLA."

The Executive Certificate in Applied Neuroleadership is designed for professionals responsible for the training and education of managers and senior executives as well as the strategic success of all talent within an organization. The program introduces participants to the neurocognitive principles that underlie effective leadership in complex environments to:

  • Build practical strategies to increase individual and organizational effectiveness.
  • Gain practical strategies to overcome bias and develop the leadership mindset required to deal with workplace challenges and opportunities.
  • Develop insight into increasing collaborative success, fostering radical accountability and compssion, and supporting a collegial culture that minimizes the fear-based reactions that hinder innovation.

"The more leaders understand the brain, the more effective leaders at all levels can become. I'm excited to be partnering with a great university to help this research reach a wider audience," said Dr. David Rock, Co-Founder and CEO of the NeuroLeadership Institute.

The Executive Certificate in Applied Neuroleadership is accepting registration and early-bird savings are available through July 21, 2014. The program structure, schedule and full list of instructors can be found at http://bschool.pepperdine.edu/neuro.
