Batelco and German firm in network deal [Gulf Daily News (Bahrain)]

(Gulf Daily News (Bahrain) Via Acquire Media NewsEdge) MANAMA: Batelco has announced the signing of a master bilateral supply agreement with German firm Riedel Networks.

The agreement will allow both parties to extend their reach through accessing the network of the other.

Batelco's enterprise division general manager Adel Daylami and Riedel Networks chief executive Michael Martens signed the agreement in the presence of officials from both organisations, on the sidelines of International Telecoms Week (ITW) in Chicago, USA.

Batelco has 21 active Points-of-Presence (PoPs) in the Middle East region and Europe, which enables it to extend its portfolio of global services of international private leased circuits, multiprotocol label switching and ethernet to Riedel Networks and its customers.

The agreement allows each party to extend its reach into new locations, thus being able to serve and deliver services requested by customers in the locations required.

Mr Daylami said the agreement gives both parties diversity in terms of choice.

"Strategic partnerships with global players demonstrate Batelco's trusted and resilient network and capability locally and globally," he added.

Mr Martens said the Middle East region was a diverse and growing economy where Riedel Networks saw a constant demand for global connectivity solutions.

"The agreement with Batelco enables our business customers to connect with businesses in the Middle East and Gulf region using Riedel Networks' extensive global presence.

It underpins our strategy being a premium supplier for high quality data networking worldwide," added Mr Martens.

Batelco's datacoms products and services manager Hani Askar attended the event along with Mr Daylami to meet strategic partners for enhancing existing partnerships and building alliances with prospective new partners.

In a separate announcement, Batelco announced the launch of the first 1Gbps dedicated Internet service in Bahrain.

Other speeds have also been introduced to meet the demand from customers for higher bandwidth.

The new speeds are 5Mbps, 150Mbps, 200Mbps, 300Mbps, 400Mbps and 500Mbps in addition to the 1Gbps service.

The telecoms firm has also announced a price reduction of 38 per cent for its 100Mbps Inet dedicated service.

High-speed, symmetric and dedicated Internet connections are offered under the Inet dedicated service.

A domain name with a 'bh' country code is offered as a part of the service.

Additionally, a subnet of eight IP addresses enables customers to host services such as email and web servers.

Batelco said it also offers around-the-clock service support.

"We are empowering business customers by delivering a wider range of speeds to suit the needs of our Inet dedicated customers," Batelco enterprise division general manager Adel Daylami said.

"Such services include highly qualified pre-sale and solution engineers, and an online monitoring and reporting portal." (c) 2014 Al Hilal Publishing & Marketing Group Provided by SyndiGate Media Inc. (Syndigate.info).
