(Guardian (UK) Via Acquire Media NewsEdge) 1/22 A breakthrough in wireless charging opens the way for sensors that could be embedded in our bodies. The system could deliver power to pacemakers and nerve stimulators using an external device the size of a credit card. The system has to be safety tested, but would enable much smaller implants.



1/15 Google is making 3D-sensing tablets, - an extension of the search engine's Project Tango smartphone that is capable of precisely capturing the real world in 3D. The tablets will enable developers to map indoor locations, recreate entire buildings and produce accurate scans of rooms for games or other applications.

1/8 Soon you will be able to drive from Edinburgh to Swansea in an electric car with one short stop. The Tesla Model S (below) - available in the US for some time - comes to Britain next month. Tesla batteries have a 300-mile range and its charging stations can extend battery use by 130 miles in 20 minutes.


1/15 The Kangaroo is a foldable light the size of a handkerchief. It is designed to sit at the bottom of your bag so you can find your keys or phone without having to rummage. It is charged by USB. Collecting investors on Kickstarter now.

1/15 Users of the latest version of the Chrome browser can search the internet using only their voices. The computer starts listening when a user says "OK Google" and will search with any following words.
