Ex-Nissan worker nabbed for alleged illegal access to company data

(Japan Economic Newswire Via Acquire Media NewsEdge) A former employee of Nissan Motor Co. was arrested Tuesday on suspicion of illegally acquiring company trade secrets, police said.

The suspect, identified as Kenichi Okamura, 37, allegedly obtained sales plan data for the X-Trail sports utility vehicle by illegally accessing the automaker's database.

Okamura copied the data in four files to a hard disk on a total of four occasions in July 2013 before resigning from the company at the end of that month, the police said.

Each file contained data equivalent to 50 to 60 A4 size sheets, they said.
