The Sun appoints new DMD, directors [Sun, The (Nigeria)]


(Sun, The (Nigeria) Via Acquire Media NewsEdge) The Board of Directors of The Sun Publishing Limited has approved the appointment of new directors to further reinforce the position of the company, as a leader in the newspaper in­dustry.



Mr. Eric Osagie, erstwhile Ex­ecutive Director, Publications, be­comes the new Deputy Managing Director/Deputy Editor-in-Chief. He replaces Mrs. Ethel Nmezi, who voluntarily resigned the of­fice of Deputy Managing Director on health grounds.

Mr. Steve Nwosu is now Executive Director, Corpo­rate Services, while Mr. Bo­laji Tunji joins the board, as Ex­ecutive Director, Special Duties.Osagie has had a robust journal­ism career, spanning over 20 years. He rose steadily through the ranks as staff writer, chief correspondent deputy features editor and became features editor of the National Con­cord in 1998. In 1999, he was ap­pointed Saturday editor of the Na­tional Interest newspaper.


He joined the services of The Sun Publishing Limited in 2002, as pioneer Editor, Abuja, where he was saddled with the task of super­vising the editorial and business operations of the newspaper in the Federal Capital Territory. He was subsequently named Editor, North­ern Operations, with schedule en­compassing the northern region.

He was appointed Special Adviser, Public Affairs and Strategy by Gov. Adams Oshiomhole of Edo State in 2008, and returned to The Sun, as Managing Editor, the following year.Osagie was appointed to the board of the company in 2010 as Executive Director, Special Services, in charge of business and editorial portfolio in the North. In December 2013, he was re-designated Executive Director, Publications, supervising the company's editorial and operations departments.Steve Nwosu joined The Sun at inception in 2003 as editor of the Saturday title. Before then, he had worked at The Guardian, and later at ThisDay, where he was variously Features Editor, Political Editor, Editor, Style, Editor of the Saturday newspaper, and member, Editorial Board.He became editor of Daily Sun in 2008, a position he held for five years. He was named General Editor in July last year, and now joins the board as ED Corporate Services, where he is expected to leverage on his wide editorial experience to chart new frontiers for the company in the corporate sector. Nwosu, who hails from Imo State, is married to Toyin, and they are blessed with children.Bolaji Tunji brings to his new assignment over 20 years post-graduation experience in journalism, spanning The Guardian, The Independent, The Nation, National Mirror, and New Telegraph newspapers.He has held top editorial and managerial positions, which will serve him in good stead on the board of The Sun Newspapers. He is expected to deploy his wide experience to help the newspaper consolidate its hold on the market as the number one choice of readers.Tunji is married, and blessed with children.The appointments take immediate effect.
